I ordered a direct replacement tap from the one i bought ten years ago. the spec appears to have changed and the thread is different and a lot shorter.

Can anyone advise on a thread extension. I dont need much but its needs to go through a 50mm worktop. so i dont need the full length of the original tap as show in the image

do i need a 1/2" thread extender?

You might find the threaded section is just threaded into the tap itself & will come out & allow you to change it for your old threaded section.

If not, I'd have thought any form of extension piece would be the same size as your flex tails (or however your pipes are attached). How accessable is the under side of your worktop? Could you cut a larger hole 10mm or so into the bottom of your worktop to allow it to fit?
