What will I need to watercool this set-up?

Thanks

You'll need a pump, reservoir, radiator(s), fittings, tubing, fluid, and waterblocks for any items you want to watercool.

Ah right, I have bundled together this.

Thank you for taking the time to help me out, any help on the above spec I will be hugely grateful for. First time ever at building a watercooling rig from scratch :)

Edit

I was looking through more of the pumps and found the EK-BAY DCP 2.2 Combo Unit (incl. pump), is this any good? Presuming I mount it in the front under the DVD drive

Done the whole list again just so I can get it spot on.

The fathom cooler is an all in one: it has a pump and reservoir built in. I wouldn't recommend that if you wish to watercool your GPU too.

You've also picked out a bay res as well as a tube res. You only need one.

For the size of your case, you'll need a stronger pump than the DCP 2.2. The 4.0 version of that pump will work, though a D5 will be better.

Also, check out this post on how to copy an OcUK shopping cart to your forum post:

I don't think a d5 will give a lower temp than a 4.0 in this size loop. I have had the 4.0 deal perfectly well with 3 or 4 block loops. My current 5 block loop has two of them on a fan controller and i don't even get a temp decrease if i were to turn one pump off!

What are you looking to gain from watercooling?

Is it lowest possible temps?

Is it lowest possible noise?

What do you want to water cool and what are you willing to spend for it?

Just the CPU and the GPU, that is all.

Lower temps without all the fan overpowering noise.

Looking at anything up to 400

Shawy - I had wondered how people done that, cheers mate :)

D5s are more durable and reliable, also (in my experience) quieter and easier to mount. Not to mention the customisability in terms of looks, mounting, tube routing, and attachable reservoirs.

Just an all round better pump imo. Yet I've never used one in my personal systems lol.

A d5 is a fair bit pricier and two 4.0's can be had for the same price as some D5's and tops. A 4.0 is also still very reliable, i would rather (and do) have two 4.0's in my loop on lower speeds than a single D5, so if one breaks at least the loop can keep running. They also sport better head. Two 4.0's will sport better specs and be just as silent once you turn them down.

New 4.0's also have speed control i believe.

Give me 1600 LPH flow and 4.0m of head from two reliable pumps over 1200lph of flow and 3.7m of head on single pump any day!

I use 4.0's in almost all my loops and have never had an issue with mounting. As for reliability, hearing of a D5 or 4.0 fail is so rare that i have seen less threads posted about either happening in this forum than i have fingers in my right hand!

Whats the PC for?

Depending on what its for, you have gone pretty overkill on the PSU, RAM and even the fan controller.

Whats the budget?

I presonally would prefer a 380i or Supremacy waterblock for CPU and a EK full cover block for the GPU but the blocks you picked will serve you well enough anyway. Drop the hardware labs rad for two cheaper decent radiators and things will stay much cooler, you have plenty of space in the 900D, so no need to worry about mounting options.

What are the 80mm noiseblockers for?

The radiator needs fans, i will recommend SP120s or maybe the new Noctua fans if they have decent Static pressure specs.

Just gaming mate.

I went with that PSU as I may want to stick another graphics card in there in the future, just future proof. I always max out the RAM in my personal builds, that's just something I've always done.

I was going to use the fan controller for fans to point at like the pump and maybe as a extra exhaust? Or is that not needed with watercooling?

Cheers

Okay, PSU is good then, could drop it to a 1000w but your choice really.

As for the Ram, you wont use the extra in gaming and for your uses, having more wont make it faster. You could spend £80 on that RAM and come out with the same performance as spending the 640 you speced.

Thats enough cash in that RAM saving to buy a 4k monitor with some leftover or another Ti!

If you want, i can buy some old RAM paint it with plastidip so it doesn't get detected by the RAM slots and sell it to you for the £600! Saves yourself £40 and ill even let you choose the colour :D lol

Though having said that, with x79, i would probably go for 4x4gb to set up in quad channel.

I've put the RAM down to two sets. Always upgrade in the future if I need too eh? :)

I am looking at the OcUK Tech Labs H2O Custom GTX 780 Ti 3072MB GDDR5 Watercooled Graphics Card, surely I wouldn't need the EK Water Blocks as that comes with a water block on? Really confused now lol

No thats right, wont need the block if you get the pre-installed OCuk XSPC one.

Advantage of getting the card and block separately and fitting it yourself is you get to choose exactly what brand of card and what block you want. You also save yourself a few pennies depending on what you choose.
