Help with upgrade advice please.

I have the itch to upgrade my PC. I plan on keeping everything apart from the motherboard, CPU and memory. My current specs are:

Thermaltake Core P5
Intel 6700k processor
MSI Z170A Gaming Motherboard
32Gb Vengence memory
MSI FE GTX1080ti graphics card
3x 500gb Intel SSD drives
1x 1Tb Intel SSD drive
950 Pro 512GB M.2 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe SSD

I use my rig for gaming, especially flight and racing sims in VR. Can anyone reccomend me a CPU, Motherboard and memory. I don’t mind intel or amd.I have 2k to spend and want to future proof it as much as possible.

Unless you need more CPU cores, there's no point. And even then you will likely be able to transfer the RAM.

Save your pennies for now and look at Nvidia's new GPUs when they appear.

I had planned to move the cpu and graphics card into my second PC that I use with my Samsung Odyssey for room scale VR, replacing my i5 and 1080.

I was planning on adding the next gen GPU into the new build/upgrade used in my rig and Oculus Rift for vr flight and driving sims. Which is in another room because of my motion platform.

Then save yourself a lot of effort and just move that PC as is and build a new PC.
