I am looking to upgrade my system on a budget and any help would be appreciated
Current Spec:-
Intel E6600 @ 2.40GHz
Mobo- Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3 (Dont know what version)
GFX- BFG 8800GT OC2
RAM- 4 * Corsair Memory 1GB XMS2-6400
OS- Win XP 32bit
PSU- Corsair HX620W
Possible upgrades-
Intel Q9400 @ 2.66GHZ
Sapphire Technology ATI Radeon 5770 HD 1GB PCI-Express HDMI VaporX
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
About £380
My main question is the compatibility of my mobo and the Q9400. On the Gigabyte CPU support list it has N/A for the first and second version of the mobo and F14 (Non official support) for the 3rd version. (How could I find out what version I have?)
If the mobo cant support the Q9400 what upgrades would you recommend on a budget of about £500 (I am going to build a new system later this year and only really looking to boost gaming performance until i get my new comp).
