Right long story so i will cut it down the basics.

Now that i am working 2 jobs i was asked by my second employer if i would rather invoice him (self employed) or et him sort it all out. i decided on the later as i didnt want to have to do all the tax and NI myself.

How i started getting paid here from 1st Feb, and was told that wages are paid around the middle (14th ) of every month! now no wages arrived mid march so i asked when it was due. he decided to wait untill april so that he would then pay my 6 weeks in one go (i work 2 weeks in arrers)

so its now the 7th of april i am owed £982 (part time and 2 months worth) and he keeps telling me the wage slips are coming in today. he told me this yesterday! and again today! still nothing!

on top of this he has worked out that he owes me £878 not £982. Now from past expereience i always always keep a spreadsheet with every single our i work in it. the sheet works out to the penny how much i am owed after tax. As i am on 3 different pay schemes (Bar day time/ Doorman Rate and Bar After midnight) its easy to use the spread sheet for this.

he has showed me the record he has of my hours and he has changed some! for example.

When i work the door on a friday night i get £10 on the door untill the last customer leaves, it then changes to £6.50 an hour while we clean the place. he seems to be changing my rate of pay at 3am which is 1 hour before the last person leaves. how is this fair??

i am perfectly within my rights to demand my money by the end of the day arent i?? but how do i manage the dispuite over how much??

sorry for the long post!! :(

Speak to him?

i have done that. like i said up there. he keeps telling me the slips will be in today. then another day passes. it was supposed to be last tuesday!!!

wheni ask him about the difference in pay he is always busy! doesnt respond!

You are going to speak to have to speak to him to sort out the wages. However you may want to get professional advice - the Citizens Advice Bureau is probably who you want to speak to.

well seems ive managed to collar him and we have come to a agreement about the wages. however the difference that he didnt think he owed me will not be added untill next months wages now

its ok i guess as its only just over £100but still!!!

He sounds like a typical small/medium business owner to me.

Lies all the time, expects you to bend over backwards when he asks yet wouldnt life a finger to help you.

Constantly tries to screw over staff and goes to ground when people want to be paid.

Says different things to different staff and then accuses people of lying..... any of this sounding familiar? I think they make these type of guys in a factory somewhere.

As your working life, tax etc is a bit complicated it would probably be better to do it yourself. You have a vested interested in getting it right.

tell him you've changed your mind and start invoicing him for work done, he can then sign off on it and pay you ad hoc?

since your spreadsheets tell you what you are owed after tax, you know how much tax you need to pay anyway right?
