I have just purchased the Asus xonar d2x card and for the life of me I can't get it to work. It's in the correct slot and has power (lights on) but it's not coming up with 'new hardware installed' and when I try to find it manually it's not there!
Getting a bit frustrated with it now, any of you genius' out there any ideas?

If Windows isn't detecting the card, and you get no hardware found, or whatever it says when you try and install the drivers, could be a faulty card. Have you disabled the onboard audio in the bios? There might be a few things to try before deciding the card is knackered.

Don;t you have to install the drivers and software BEFORE inserting the card in the slot with xonars?

That one. But I still think its the power connector or lack thereoff. The card will light up and seem "on / working" even if you dont have the power connector attached.

No. I've had 3 different Xonar's, and you install the card first. Trying to install drivers with no card present will result in no hardware found messages.
