Help work prank please

Years ago my old boss used to email himself from their PC asking for a pay cut

I rarely lock my work PC because we have a stupid password policy and they blocked biometrics (fingerprint sensor / windows hello) :rolleyes: . Clearly if I'm with customers or people I don't know I will, but I'm mostly working from home or with colleagues who I've worked with for years, who also don't bother.
 
If the keyboard keys were re programmable you could set up a script to set the background wallpaper to change to the same one or/and play funny noises depending on what keys are pressed.
 
Change the background to the same thing but with the addition of a very small picture of a fly, keep adding additional flies over time to the background. Make him believe he has a nest in his monitor
 
I think some of you need to grow up. I take security seriously so always lock their machine for them, not before creating an interesting picture in paint for them to come back to of course.
 
Oh, I think I've thought of a belter.

He is old skool and has stupid shortcuts all over his desktop. I could snip his desktop to an image, then set it as his background, and then set his desktop icons to not show.

He'll be double clicking on the image. :p

My thoughts too, but I am grumpy and hate pranks. If as a company it's important/necessary for workers to lock their PC for security concerns then surely as an IT admin it's your responsibility to enforce it automatically?
 
hide in the shadows and wait till said employee sits back down at his pc......soon as he put his hand on his mouse, spring from the shadows, donkey punch him into the back of the neck and scream at him to remember to lock his ******* pc.......job done, thank me later.

Used to do this loads. Hide & lock the taskbar at the top of the screen too. Did it to a manager once who took about a week to figure it out, still doesn't know it was me to this day :D
 
done the ol' screen inversion thing.

the other one back from school days was to screenshot the desktop, set the screenshot as the background, then delete all the desktop shortcuts.

edit: and ofc only after posting do i notice that's been mentioned

better than deleting all the short cuts is to just hide them, so it's only temporarily disruptive...

Exactly, its an definitely IT's job to ensure a rude mspaint picture is left for them too as as per my post.
 
Turn his monitor off at the mains plug, or unplug the monitor lead out of the back of his monitor.

The less technically aware can have hours of fun with that.

Oh, do something to spellchecker, too. Switching to American English is good.
 
Our old boss used to leave his computer unlocked. Someone sent an email from his computer to himself congratulating him on the promotion. Evidence is evidence!

I once showed the office junior the screen inversion trick - he then did it to his line managers laptop. The line manager was late for an important meeting and picked up his laptop in a rush, not looking at the screen. He was in a blind rage afterwards because he didn't know how to fix it and had an extremely awkward meeting :D. He couldn't discipline the junior without getting himself in trouble for not locking his PC, which our company is quite strict about!
