My new set up is arriving tomorrow and im using my old hard drive with it. BUT my HDD doesnt seem to be working!
This is what happened, the HDD was basically partitioned into 3, it was my master drive, since my mobo broke i moved the HDD to the other pc and it was used as a slave.
I backed up my stuff and decided to merge all the partitions and format it ready for 2mo. However with partition magic when it reboots to make the changes it says it cannot find a certain thing and boots to windows with no changed.
i tried to use the HDD as master and install windows on it, windows setup formats it and then after the reboot it says there is a certain file missing and wont continue with the set up :S

any clues?

Try going to a Dos prompt using a boot floppy and typing "fdisk /mbr" (making sure you have fdisk.com on the boot floppy). It could be that your master boot record has become corrupt and could do with being wiped.

i get this message when win set up reboots:
When Windows XP tries to start I get the following error: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINNT\System32\l_intl.nls.

no luck there :(
i have a spare sata HDD hopefully i can get this to work as master on my new rig. ill full format this ide one while im building my new set up. Let u know how i get on.
well disappointing, i thought id have no trouble building this new pc.

Step 1: Go to vendor website
Step 2: Get vendor's HDD disk utility
Step 3: Use it

Basically the disk utility should be able to scan the drive and look for any errors. It should also be able to do a nice lovely format :)
