hi guys, i want to overclock my old system and do not care if i blow it lol i just want to experiment on this as i will be buying a new rig and definately would like to overclock that. I am a noob and have no idea where to start, ive read the stickies and i am none the wiser where to start. I opened the bios from the startup and havent got a clue. The pc is really old its a amd athlon 900mhz 20gb hard drive 128 ram gforce 2 graphics card so you obviously can tell its old school and i dnt mind what happens to the thing. can someone help me step by step to how i would start and make any changes

thankyou guys any helpwould be much appreciated

What is the mobo that you are using?? If it allows you to adjust multiplier then you are in luck; Old "Thunderbird" Athlons can adjust multiplier with a simple "L1 bridge pencil mod" - basically connecting all four L1 bridges on the CPU with a pencil (2B or darker).

Otherwise you won't be able to get far with increasing fsb, especially if your mobo do not have AGP/PCI lock.

it dosent have a manufactuer name, how will i know if i can do it the way you say you can? can you assume for the time being that it is?

Well a pre-built machine eliminates almost all possibility for overclocking because the providers usually have custom BIOSes that remove all OC settings.

yer when i opened the bios i didnt really see much adjustments i could make and stuff, cheers anyways pal . im just bored really and wanna blow something up haha
