HELP WITH E6300

Hi all

After a couple of weeks of messing about I finally got my Freezer Pro 7, but I cant say ive noticed any difference in temps.

Im still getting 50 at idle and for some reason it still seems to lower its speed from 1.86ghz to 1600ghz which results in a 2 degree drop in temps

any ideas anyone cause this is doin my head in now!

You turned off Intel Speedstep? and other related technologies?

What's the airflow like in your case, many fans at all?

No offense, but did you clean the CPU surface before applying the thermal paste prior the new installation? Your CPU is not OCed and the temps are a bit higher that you would expect.

I cant find any thing in my bios that says step speed. Could it be called anything else?

I have two fans blowing in from the side, both 60mm
I have 1 fan sucking air out that the roof of the case also 60mm and a 120mm behind the freezer 7 sucking air out.

No offence taken, Yes i did clean the cpu before i installed my new kit.
I was hoping my temps would drop dramatically with the freezer 7 pro but its just not happened.
Clicky if photo doesnt work

What is the speed of your Arctic 7 Pro fan? It has this "smart" function to detect the CPU temperature and adjust the current speed. If the threshold is rather high (in the fifties) it might not kick in until it gets above 50.

There should be something in the BIOS that sets the CPU Threshold temps. The speedfan could be around.

I am personally running AMD X2 4800 but the concept is similar to C & Q.

I watched the fan and the temperature, it seems to start up at about 38 degrees and seems to stay constant.

I will have another look in a bit for the fan control thingy in the bios

taa very much

i'll turn it off and see if it makes a difference

.....

Edit:

Turned it off, and TAT isnt changing the frequency any more.
Temp is 50 at idle now

:-)

ok, ive taken the side panel off and whacked it by an open window. The temp has fallen to 45 at idle which is a lil better but still quite warm for 1.8ghz

If you search for SHF/CPU lapping this might give you some ideas. It sounds as a bad contact to me, especially after you have explored all BIOS options. And if you did not see huge improvement after taking off the cover it is hinting that the heat transfer is not right. This could be due to poor thermal paste application or the roughness of the CPU/HSF surface is/are well above average.

Jokester has experience in this department (and not only :) ). Look for his posts.
