I was updating the BIOS on my Asus P5B Deluxe mobo, and whilst updating it with the latest BIOS with the AsusUpdate utility, it came up with a message saying unable to format something. Gave me the option of retrying or exiting, so thought ( as anyone would) retry a couple of times first but same error, so I then exited the utility. Carried on working away in Windows and turned the PC off.

When I turned it back on again, the screen was black. The PC has powered up and everything, but the screen is blank :(

I read the manual about restoring the original BIOS by inserting the mobo CD and turning on the PC, but obviously without the PC being able to boot, it did no good......what have I done and how can I return my PC to normal??????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you need another pc to put the bios on a floppy or usb stick

then insert the asus motherboard driver disk and the floppy or usb stick containing the bios.

re-boot then just leave it to do its thing.

Will this work? I've read somewhere that doing a failed BIOS update with the windows utility is actually an increasingly common fault with Asus board, and a lot of people have had to RMA their boards?

will it need to be just the .ROM file or keep it zipped up? I'm guessing it has to be unzipped and just the .ROM file on disk?

Well to update, I've tried using the motherboard CD and a floppy with the BIOS file on and nothing happened what so ever.

I get no display, no beeps during POST...nothing. My board is good as dead. I've tried a few things including reset the CMOS etc but nothing.

Will I need to return my board for RMA?
Will I have any problems trying to do so? As the motherboard was part of a bundled package bought via the OC website.
