If marmite eating is the route to wisdom, I think I'll stay an idiot thanks! :p

PK!

Its the PG Tips that really did it for me. Although you could always try Bovril on toast as a second alternative :p

Bad news: I did what you advised but it's still doing the same thing :(

Any other suggestions?

Ohh, forgot to say that the power led on the front of the pc is red (for the 1 second it's on) rather than the normal green. If that makes any difference...

Don't worry a few years back I did this to a pc my first build. Luckiy my board was okay. Try resetting bios and re seating the cpu. Otherwise might need a new board. :-(

Done everything you and I can think of with it and it's still doing the same thing.

Is the powering for a millisecond a def new motherboard (if I've tried everything else)? Thing that's confusing me is that the power led on the motherboard still lights up

Is the problem definitely the motherboard? I know the other parts could be fried too but I don't want to replace the motherboard to find it's not the problem...

What motherboard do you have?

Take out all the Optical Drives and all the HDD apart from one ( Pref a sata ) and plug in the small speaker into the motherboard as this will give certain beeps depending on what the problem is.

Have you tried running the board outside the case with only the items required to pass post i.e. Graphics, CPU and memory. Also if you are running with two stick of ram just try with the one fitted.

What PSU are you using

Not tried it outside of the case. I've fitted the the risers now so that should'nt be an issue.

Got two sticks of 1gb, will remove one of them.

Tried taking them out earlier with no luck.

Unfortunately, the case does'nt have a speaker so I can't tell what sound it's making:(
