HELP !!!!!!!!!

Because some of us don't want gaming to turn into some sort of fitness competition. I'd much rather sit on my behind drinking a beer whilst playing games.

I've been shockingly bad in researching natal, but is it not likely that the classic controller interface will remain as strong as ever, but with natal being an enhancement for -some- games?.. I'm completely prepared to be shown wrong in this but it seems that this overall negative reaction assumes the intention to migrate almost all control functions of 360 games to movement control in natal.. this seems..simply..unfeasable as it stands, but again, please do correct me :D

What with Nintendo releasing a console based around motion technology it seems that is the way the market is headed. Hopefully Microsoft will insist on controller support for some time but for how long that continues into the future is unknown.

I could never work out which was best so over time I bought all three. I spend most of my time on my 360 and wishing I had never bought a Wii.

I guess there is really no helping the obesity epidemic.

I'd rather use my body and feel like part of the game, then sit on my ass with a controller vibrating in my hand wiggling some sticks about.

Ahhh, the vibration and the wiggling of the sticks...yeh, get a 360!

Yes, because everyone that plays video games is obese..

Obviously those that sit and play with a controller, are so obese, they're unable to go out and get exercise another method.

Because prancing around like a prat clearly is the only way to get exercise.

The wii has proven than unresponsive, inaccurate control methods just don't work. As Natal is in it's early stages hopefully it will improve but everything i've seen looks just as unresponsive and inaccurate as the wii-remotes.

Don't nit pick

From what i saw it was pretty damn accurate. I don't know what some people are expecting, like some kind of mind melding virtual clone of you, copying everything you do perfectly. You need to get real a bit, we are no where near that and we have to embrase the things we have. Natal is currently 100x better then the Wii and its also currently the best controller less interface device we have.

Rather then slate it before its out the bloody door, why not give the new tech a chance. This is like XP syndrome, people too reluctant to give up there old tech, scared of the new tech.

I'm not nit picking, you said 'i guess there is no helping the obesity epedemic' as if gamers are all fat and this was the only way to help them, which is clearly not the case. Stop making such sweeping statements and i'll stop criticising them.

Accurate and responsive are two different things. Accuracy it has, it replicates the users' movements very well and displays it on screen (ok there was the 'bam!' incident at E3 but it's still not finished so i'm happy to overlook that). What it isn't is responsive, it always takes a while to catch up with a user if they make a quick movement which, unless solved, will basically render the controller useless for fast paced, twitch gameplay. All of the Burnout demos show the main marketing guy just driving slowly then when the other guys take over they just crash into everything; it just doesn't work for the application. It's great for the ball minigame they showed but so is the wii-remote and i grew tired of that quickly. I know we don't live in the future and we do have to accept some flaws in these sorts of technology, but frankly the whole aim of this technology is to control a computer game, something that often requires quick, accurate inputs. Are we supposed to overlook the fact that it may well be unsuitable for many tasks they are marketing it for (burnout for example) because it is ambitious tech? I'd rather stick to the pad and have fun than get frustrated at a delayed input method that's 'the wave of the future'

If you don't want people to analyse natal negatively before it's out, don't mention it as a positive before it's out; neither of us know if it'll be brilliant or rubbish but you're allowed to praise it and i'm not allowed to criticise it? For example statements such as 'it's 100x better than the Wii', how can you expect to say that and someone not put in a counter argument?

What the hell are you talking about? How is slating it before it's out any worse than praising it before it's out? I'd actually wait for reviews and to actually play the thing before taking The Game's opinion.

Guys, all I want was some opinions not a war. Friendly helpful advice, and I agree people will have there personnel choice.

Won't ever happen (on this subject anyway) in this place I'm afraid. Folks are too frictious and determined to prove their console is superior.

Ultimately the best thing to do is probably ask your own kids, but that would spoil the surprise :p

K, sorry, fair point.

Just get a 360 and viva pinata then wait for a PS3 to come down to a more reasonable price and buy one of those too! Job done.

Just don't buy a Wii :/

Now that wasn't too hard. :D

I'd go with what Streeteh said. Your kids won't care for all the extra mumbo jumbo the PS3 has to offer, they just want the games. Also, their friends will more than likely own a 360 than a PS3 as they are cheaper.

Easy..

Want online gaming go for a 360.
Want a Blu-ray player go for a PS3.
Want a console for the kids go for a Wii.

Neither the PS3 or 360 at present offer gaming for the family/kids apart from the odd game which most are average at best.

Totally untrue. There are plenty of kid friendly games on the 360/PS3. You just have to look for them. They just don't get pushed as hard as the violent games.

Really though, this is all the OP fault. When you ask for advice, give us something to work on instead of a few words. We aren't mind readers.

No there isn't, unless you are refering to rubbish like Open Season 2, or Hannah Montana which are also on the Wii.

Totally agree, an age of the kids, whether the console will be used by others and whether the console is going to be in the lounge or bedroom etc would really help. Also is it going to be connected to a HDTV?

My input on topic.

Your kids WILL get bored of the Wii, The only true games to come to Wii in my eyes, were Mario Galaxy and RE4, everything else has been PARTY GAME, PARTY GAME PARTY GAME, or just dull and/or badly implimented.

The 360 has a massive games catalogue with a lot of games for kids.
LOADS of sports and driving games. Wrestling games, etc.
Loads of movie crossovers - Open Season, Wall-E, Bolt, Monsters Vs Aliens
The Lego series are great, Star wars, Batman and Indiana Jones.
There's the Sega ultimate collection which has loads of old Sega games on it, Plenty of Sonic!
a lot of these are on PS3 too, But as said, its likely your kids friends will not have a ps3 because they are pricey, so the 360 would be best so he can play against his friends
