HELP !!!!!!!!!

I have a quick question regarding the ps3 streaming. Why do most people say that the Ps3 is the better console to stream media

There was a time when there was a big difference, however now, technically they are pretty much identical apart from one key issue for me; console noise. My PS3 is much, much quieter than my 360 which is a huge boon when it comes to media playback. I wouldn't say the noise from the 360 is anywhere near enough to write it off as a media player but if a person had a choice i'd recommend using the PS3 for that reason alone. There's also the fact that you can transfer video files to the PS3 hard drive and store them there permanently, last time i checked the 360 couldn't do this, again it's a small issue though.

In short, there's very little in it, both are very good media extenders.

Can you upgrade the Ps3`s Harddrive and what is the max size. would be useful to store family pictures and video ?

Yes, it'll take pretty much any sata laptop harddrive. I don't think there's a limit as such other than how big a harddrive you can buy. You can store videos and photos on it, the photo viewing application is particularly impressive.

what type of video format will it play and picture formats ? is it possible to stream ?

Never tried anything other than jpg on the ps3 but it supports those fine, google would find an answer. It supports avi but not MKV, however there's a free programme called mkv2vob that converts files to formats the ps3 will play, this usually takes less than 5 mins per video but can take longer. Yes you can stream from your PC using free software called ps3mediaserver.
