I would go for the 500w. PSUs are not the place to be too conservative. You might be ok with the 400w but you're safer with 500.

It will also offer better upgrade options later on.

its to run it for a short time till i get a new one and we are brothers and have bad spelling sorry and i made a lot of typo's lol

No, that's a bin it job (cheap and nasty). Something like a Corsair HX450 or the 500W OCZ mentioned earlier would be a good bet. Be aware that if your using a singlecore CPU then your games will be unplayable, since the CPU won't be able to keep up with the GPU 99% of the time. Your money would be better spent getting something like a 9600GT or X1950/7900GTX etc (second hand, so it'll be much cheaper) which your singlecore would be able to coincide with fine.

ok i need help with a psu that will do the job for 160+ shipping and this

for a get it working now will get a better one when i get payed again

Bare in mind what I said earlier, the games will be a stuttering mess with your current CPU and that GPU. However if you went with this for an extra £28, you would have a MUCH better gaming experience than you would with a AMD 4000+ and a GTX 260.

I agree with Happy, that's a very old fashioned design with most of its rated power on the 5 volt rail.

That AM2 4000+ is a dual core is it not ?

Ok either way, I still say getting my option would be better, since you get a faster CPU which isn't crippled by the lack of Level 2 cache since it has 2x1MB not 2x512KB. But your call, a balanced system is always better than an unbalanced one.

Ah ok, so long as it's temporary :D That PSU may handle your current setup + the GTX 260 just, but if you got a better CPU etc then it wouldn't cut the mustard.
