Help!

Guys im about to upgrade! ive got my HIS 5850 sat in front of me (as an upgrade to my 512 4870) and i just want some advice as to the steps i should take for installation.

Should i download something like driver cleaner and wipe all the old ATI stuff? Or just take the 4870 out - put the 5850 in, dowload the new drivers and carry on?

any advice much appreciated on this

Just uninstall the current card via control panel, turn off PC, plop in new card, turn on, install new one, ?????, profit!

You're signature is out of date now too. FIX IT!

Driver cleaner is a bit OTT unless you're having issues caused by a specific bad install, or sometimes going from ATI to NV (or vice versa) it can be a good idea. 99 percent of the time, I've not done it though.
