Help!!

Hi,

Hope someone can help!?

I've run into diffiulties on my new build:

Silverstone SG07 (with built in 600W PSU)
Intel i5 760
Gigabyte H55N-USB3
Corsair Dominator DD3
Patriot SSD 32GB
Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB

I assembled everything, followed all the instructions etc but when I powered on.... nothing, not even the CPU fan.

I've rechecked all the connections, stripped it down, rebuilt it and still the same, tried it with just one stick of RAM, no GPU etc.

One thing I did notice was if I tried to power it on without the 4 pin ATX 12v connected i.e only the ATX connector, the fan CPU did spin momentarily then stop, then start again for less than a second then stop etc....

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what's wrong???

Did you put the motherboard onto the mounting screws ?

Yes.... I think so (silver screws, narrower at one end, why?

because it sounds like something is shorting the power..

Oh right..... just rechecked it and nothing seems amiss other than it still not working

Your problem does sound like something is shorting. So try removing the motherboard out of the case and see if you can power it up. You may also want to remove all front USB/audio/mic connections from the motherboard too. If you are using an aftermarket CPU cooler, you should check to see if the CPU cooler back plate is touching any metal part of the case as well.
