This is Pre-Computer Basics 101...
simple rules of thumb:
Computer acting up = reboot
Computer won't start = make sure it's plugged in and PSU is turned on
mouse not working = make sure it's hooked up
keyboard not working = same as above
BSOD = reboot
No screen = make sure it hooked up
Computer crashes after updates = restore to before updates
Can't boot up to restore = try safe mood

You would be amazed how many times tech support gets calls for the simplest problems in above list... or monitor isn't working = turn it on!

Often its cleaning staff bumping something while dusting and cleaning.... and just as often it's just I D ten T error

ID10T error

=get down off of soapbox=
Rant over:o

And you can tell operators it's Id ten T error and walk of with a smile on your facEdie.:D

Edit: Above rant is in no way directed at OP of this thread!

I'm not sure how he's going to boot into safe mood if he can't see the onscreen prompts.

A quick fix would be to remove the CMOS battery and put it back in again, this will have the effect of resetting your BIOS back to default settings and has fixed countless problems for me and friends over the years including unresponsive monitors.

It may be that the windows installation is causing the screen issue and therefore getting into the bios may be possible. I did ask if he could at the start but the guy is at work so... /shrug

So you get no bootup on screen at all always black.

Then unhook monitor from GPU card and plug it into onboard GPU... better yet remove GPU card so system doesn't have to deal with it at all... and try booting up.

Reset the CMOS by moving the jumper across (usually next to the battery on the motherboard), leaving for a few seconds then moving back. I can see that your motherboard has both a VGA socket and a DVI. I'm assuming you've tried hooking your monitor up to the onboard graphics? If it works then you know the graphics card is to blame.

Next try booting with one stick of ram then the other. If you still don't get a display it'll be either a dead motherboard, dead cpu, dead RAM (unlikely) or dead graphics card. I'm betting that as the graphics card cooler is now running at full speed that it is to blame.

bump i put the monitor to the on board GPU. Seems like the graphics card is the problem. the card is only a month old. what next ?

read this nVidia - Display, Other hardware - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Installation date: ‎18/‎06/‎2012 23:11

Installation status: Canceled

Error details: Code 8024000B

Update type: Optional

nVidia Display, Other hardware software update released in February, 2012

This installed last night before the crash well it says it didnt install... and i cant find it to delete it

I also tryed the to plug the monitor back to my card but goes back to square one

Can you do a system restore to before last night? Like the day before. Probably won't help but can't hurt unless you installed something else after last backup.
