Help!

Can anyone give me some advice on how to fix my sons gaming PC? I also don’t know how to upload a pic of the screen which details the problem as it is asking me for a url on here?! ‍

Tech is not my thing!! It is basically saying usb voltage overload even though nothing is plugged in..please help!!

If there are no USB devices connected, it may be that a USB port is damaged.

to help us help you, provide:
- when does the error appear
- what the error says
- what the specs of the pc are. tool to help: https://www.ccleaner.com/speccy
- what usb devices are connected
- a picture of the back of the pc where all the ports are

Are you sure there isn't anything plugged in to the front (or top) USB ports?

It comes on as soon as the pc turns on..I can’t seem to upload a screenshot but it says the following:

USB devices total: 0 drive 0 keyboard 0 mouse 4 hubs

Detected ATA/ATAPI devices…
P9: samsung HD103UJ
P10: OCZ-VERTEX3

CPU over voltage error!
USB device over current status detected II
No keyboard detected
System will shut down in ..?.. seconds

have unplugged everything and hoovered it (probs shouldn’t have done that!) still saying the same. 4usb ports on front that have never really worked and four in the back i think..

Try removing the plug that goes to the motherboard from the front ports and see if the problem persists.

Yeah, that they don't work suggests they may have been plugged in wrongly.

I have no idea what the motherboard looks like, nevermind finding the plug

It's the big circuit board that everything is attached to at the back of the case. you may be able to see a cable coming from the from USB slots that plugs into the motherboard.

Not a great video but it shows the basics.

Ok..so when i unplugged the USB it got criss that the fan didn’t work..

Did you follow the cable that you unplugged, directly to the front USB ports?

You may have unplugged the wrong one, or accidentally dislodged the fan cable.

Fan plugs/cables are usually much smaller than USB ones.

I think that you may have disconnected the CPU fan connector and not the cable coming from the USB header.

Definitely unplugged the usb ones both front and back..

Still getting same error message

You can't usually unplug the rear USB ports, because they are hardwired. It sounds more like you unplugged the case fans.

I traced the big fat leads from the back and unplugged them..made no difference..the ones at the front look like they run to a box that says x99 series on it..i unplugged that..made no difference..

Try taking the CMOS battery out of the motherboard for 10 minutes then replacing it.

Is there some fairly large writing on the motherboard showing what make it is?

Motherboard just says Lightening (if that is what i am looking at!) where is this big battery you say i should take out? And i found a wire at the back that isn’t plugged into anything but doesn’t seem to have a home

i am so sorry-i am crap..i really appreciate your help!!
