:D Anyone know how reverse thrust works? Been bugging me for a while....

Watch the rear of the engines when you have landed and the plane starts to shudder... you will see the exhaust flow directors on the engines move so that a large proportion on the thrust is effectively directed forward... the engines are now slowing the plane down instead of pushing it forward. I love watching the engines and wing surface controls and flaps etc during a flight. I did a btec diploma in Aero enginnering years ago but due to the downturn in the industry i wasnt able to realise a career in it. I sometimes wonder how different my life would have beenif they had not decided to cancel my apprentiship due to a lost contract! ( this was with FLS at manchester airport) *sigh*

Was that at the place near Heathrow? I've flown and manually landed one of their 744 sims there. It was a lot of fun, I went there with a friend and the 'instructor' who was taking us through was new and knew less than we did. The fuel panel was incorrectly configured and she didn't know how to set it up. A few switches set and I'd cleared all the errors and got the fuel coming from the correct tanks ;)

That's the one, Cranebank training centre. We had a couple of mad 772 training captains taking care of us though. Also spent some of the day scrambling out of smoke filled cabins, sliding down inflateable chutes and even sat in and watched a cabin crew 'make-up' application class :D

Cant find it at the moment, (link wise) but there is a video of a spitfire and a american newsreader doing a short voice link and this spitfire comes from behind him as low as you can possibly get. Perhaps one of you guys know where it is.

Abit close for comfort them mountains ;) :)

Thats nothing, try Innsbruck airport Austria, you spend 20 minutes flying thorugh a valley with mountains about 200m from the wingtips and 1000m above you. Then when you leave you get flung towards a rather large mountain. :D
