Henry Cavill criticised for #MeToo comments

Can you define when a 'look' becomes a 'stare' ?

When it changes from a glance to a fixated gawp

Actually there is an easier way to know the difference....when the woman exhibits signs that she is uncomfortable with your "look" - as it's now just turned into a leer.

Maybe not quite as littleas saying hi but lookimg at women or proposition them seems to certainly qualify for many.

Theres certainly the usual types on platforms like twitter that would have even more extreme views.
as above, not really then.

so if my marriage goes 'south' and i decide to go out on the pull again it's highly unlikey i'm gonna get arrested for chatting up women. unless of course i act all leery and pervy.

What proportion of one night stands end up like that?

And that's a bit of a different issue. But rape when it comes to people being hammered isn't exactly hard to avoid. It's easy to avoid. Don't get horrifically drunk yourself and then don't sleep with horrifically drunk people.

True, you could be a sensible drinker but plenty of people aren't and it is very easy at say university etc... to get into a situation where you are horribly drunk. There is now a slightly scary trend, especially in the US, of drunken sex being rape.

It is such a stupid situation over there, two drunk people have sex with each other and the first person to report it becomes the "victim" even though technically either could be said to have sexually assaulted the other.

His comments are stupid, unnecessary, and do not reflect the average interaction with a woman. People (men) don't seem to realise how to read other people and understand the difference between a 'no, please leave me alone' and a more flirty 'convince me' type rejection.

Thankfully most men can understand the difference between chatting up a woman and sexually harassing her, it's just the internet denizens who like to argue out of context definitions that seem to struggle.
yup, most i imagine, struggle with interacting with women in any sensible way.

But he isn't talking about your average interaction with women, he is talking about it from the position of someone in a very high position of perceived power.

surely most clearly do otherwise there would be a **** ton more cases of sexual harrasement/rape etc?

People drink and in your late teens and 20s you are more likely to be drinking as a social activity and also more likely to be single and potentially having one night stands. It seems horribly unfair that in that situation the guy who went out and got drunk and slept with a woman is potentially a rapist despite being drunk i.e his lack of judgement in gaining her explicit consent and gauging her level of alcohol intake cannot be excused by his drunkeness yet she, by being drunk cannot give consent i.e her lack of judgement through drink is absolutely an excuse.

this has taken a consensual activity which in the past may have had regret in the cold light of day on either or both sides and turned into a potential criminal offence but only on one side. That cannot be right.

My friends sister recently started dating again after a long divorce. When they were walking back to their cars, she secretly photographed his number plate in case anything happened.

The worlds full of rapists!

People (men) don't seem to realise how to read other people
By other people, you mean women, right?
It's almost as if Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, right?

and understand the difference between a 'no, please leave me alone' and a more flirty 'convince me' type rejection.
It's called playing hard to get... until she's bored of playing, at which point it's then harrassment. Entirely dependent on that individual's perspective, and they don't come with a Handbook Of Signals... unless they're in the Navy.

Have people just forgot how to talk to women?
"Hello? Yes, I wonder if you can help me - I'm calling because I'd like to change my Internet Service Provider...."
Anything more than that is crossing the boundary.

Don't be silly - One does not talk to women. :D
I got married purely because of my good looks!!

Hopefully the SJW's will stop breeding
Ah, but that's not breeding, it's rape!!
#SJWLivesMatter

What if the target is dressed in a manner that appears likely to be an attempt to solicit attention?
I remember how this one ends - "Attention-seeking outfit yes, but only certain people's attention and you're not one of them"!!

Nah, I say we pander to the SJWs and prohibit ALL forms of interaction with women. The SJWs will have nothing to rant about and the lesbian pron industry would really take off... Meantime, just walk away and remind yourself that, regardless of what the woman is like, within a few weeks you'd be dosing her with Rophypnol so you could get on with your gaming!

Right, here's a little thought from me.

(The following post has been (poorly) edited for comedic effect, if you're gonna take every word literally then pls go to your safe space)

Here at my new job there's a lovely lady who must be 30-35ish. She's an 11, no jokes, ass which looks like it'll slap you back if you slap it, norks that are probably firmer than the the boner she gives me, a face which is just dripping with sex appeal. Honestly one of the hottest women I've ever seen. And she knows it. Now I'm fairly new to the whole smart casual stuff so I'm really putting in the effort to look amazing, and i can safely say that I do look awesome, a fact which has not gone unnoticed by this foxy minx.

She is always checking me out, I'm always checking her out (yes, I'm married, but if a man can't enjoy the sights then stop being married tbh, it's not healthy) and it's a bit of innocent fun flirting.

BUT!

I can't help but wonder if it's bait. If she's some kind of trap which will nail me (not that kind of nail) for sexual harrassment, and this is a very sad thought, depressing really.

And that ladies and gentlemen, is exactly what's wrong with today's society. The fact that we as men need to think about these things.

//It's not even remotely as bad as the media want us to believe but still, it's crap.

I'd risk it

When it changes from a glance to a fixated gawp

So nothing more than a glance? I'll give you persistently looking /following a person when they appear uncomfortable but not more then a glance?

And again what if the person appears to be wearing clothes apparently intended to attract attention?
