bought brand new msi 790fx amd mobo. got powercolor 4890 graphics card. installed vista on it. everything working fine. then all of a sudden i turn around and nothing on screen. i restart computer and nothing on screen???

So what exactly happens when you boot it up? Do the fans spin, any lights come on, do you get a POST beep, can you get into the BIOS?

no beeps. all lights come on. however the cpu fan doesn't work. its plugged into the 4-pin CPU Fan socket. but I have 3 extra fans right next to it so processor doesn't burn. before i check and the cpu fan worked aswell.

i'm using ocz reaper memory and apparently on one forum it said changing the memor fixed his problem... but i installed vista using this and all of a suddent his happened.. could it be memory?

looks like my problem is that the motherboard won't post anymore? any ideas what would have caused this?

Right, first of all, calm down and please stop posting lots of posts! Edit your last one to add more stuff!

Second, the RAM you were talking about: is this the 1600MHz RAM in your sig? Full specs of the system you're trying to boot might help.

sorry for all the posts just pacnickin a bit.. here are the full specs

OCZ 700w PSU
MSI 790FX-GD70 Mobo
OCZ Reaper 2x2gb 1600MHz
AMD Phenom AM3 955 3.2GHz
Samsung f1 1TB HDD
Coolermaster HAF 932 Case
Freezer Extreme Cooler

Odd that your CPU fan isn't spinning, and that the LED's hang at FF. Are you sure you've got both of the motherboard power cables in and they haven't come loose?

nope.. nothing has come loose. and cpu fan comes on during post and the post is hung at its first step which is FF.

i just want the computer to be running today any help would be great thank you. i don't want to end up returning items :(

BTW.. does anyone have beep codes for this mobo cos i can't seem to find it in the manual

Take out the cmos battery, unplug the mains power, hold the power button on for 30 secs. Put the battery back in and reconnect the mains. Try to turn on again.

slightly worried though.. the system beeps 7 times in like a tune. its like beep beep.... beep... beep beep (slightly different to first 3 and last 1)... beep (same as first 3)... and then the normal beep before it starts.. does this have any significance? should i be worried? because the computer is working fine.. vista is booting fine. i hope its just the mobo playin with me and singing me a tune..

Your manual will tell you what the beeps mean. But there is clearly something wrong.

@ Vengence....Why take the battery our BEFORE unplugin from mains? and whats the holding the power button for 30 secs do? thanks.

HOlding down the power button empties any stored power in the PSU - if I kill the mains, and hit the power button, my fans spin up, then die.

Removing the battery means that when you set the CMOS CLEAR jumper to CLEAR or press the CMOS CLEAR button, etc, as I understand it there is a wee NVRAM chip that stores your setup as long as power is applied to it. Remove the battery, it has no power. BIOS clears back to default.
