Here we go again fuel shortages

There’s a very strong correlation between age and % voted for Brexit. The stats have grouped over 60s together. This is wrong as a 60 year old tends to have different opinions than a 90 year old.

Read somewhere that if over 75s were banned from voting- like they are for jury service, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

My friend’s grandmother votes for Labour as her husband always voted for them. Friend’s grandfather died 30 years ago. People like this shouldn’t be voting!

Sorry my question was about the driver shortage in Europe. There is an issue on the continent as well as in the UK.

covid has caused driver shortages all over the world because drivers have left the haulage industry and have not been replaced because people haven't been trained and recruited.

The UK has the same issue, but is also dealing with being unable to recruit EU drivers like it has done for decades and EU drivers, up until recently (and temporarily I might add), being able to do their jobs as normal whilst they were in the UK due to the Brexit deal not covering cabotage. Europe is not suffering with these issues. No other country in the world is suffering with these extra issues. Why is that?

That's because Brits can't easily go over and work there. ;)

Just kidding. Yeah there is a massive shortage in some countries more and the UK even. Poland is short of 120,000 drivers for example. Spain, Germany etc.. all short. Seems they are all struggling to attract divers from within the EU as the few are willing to put up the working conditions. Drivers are coming in from places like Russia, Ukraine and Kyrgyzstan to do the jobs EU residents don't want to do.

Logistics is a needed industry. Historically the government has subsidised farming and in reality they need to do the same with logistics. No one wants to do the job in current pay and conditions yet everyone wants their products as cheaply as possible.

I meant posters on this forum, but thanks for linking to many many media sites citing brexit as a factor.

I'm not sure it helps your argument if you are indeed a brexit supporter...

There is no argument from me as I do think Brexit did play a small part, there's no denying that. It was just another cog in the mechanism alongside COVID, media scares, idiots panic buying etc. However that wasn't the point, I was replying to your quoted "I don't recall anyone blaming Brexit for the UK fuel crisis?" but since you clarified later that you meant Forum Posters (rather than "anyone") it makes my reply quoting the press a bit moot TBH.
