A father is being quizzed by police on suspicion of murder after an alleged intruder at his home was stabbed to death.
Two men reportedly forced their way into the house of Vincent Cooke, 39, and threatened him before one of the alleged raiders suffered fatal knife wounds.
Mr Cooke was initially home alone at the time in Midland Road, Bramhall, Stockport.
But his wife Karen and their 12-year-old son returned during the incident - they managed to escape unharmed.
Police were called to the scene at about 7.50pm on Saturday.
Officers and paramedics gave first aid to the injured man, thought to be aged in his late 30s, but he died shortly after.
Floral tributes to the dead man - referred to as "Ray" and "Raymondo" - were left by his family members outside the large detached house.
Sky sources have since named the man as Raymond Jacob.
One tribute read: "Love you son. Going to miss you more than anything."
Earlier, police issued an alert to find the second suspected intruder who fled in a white Citroen van that was parked nearby, but he was later apprehended.

Assuming the guy was an intruder (obviously it isn't confirmed yet) - good riddance. It's a bit odd that the friends and family of the deceased are leaving flowers outside of the home he was alleged to be stealing from though.
Wasn't David Cameron going to clarify home invasion laws (or whatever they're called) fairly soon, or has he done it already? Perhaps now would be a good time to do so.
I'm pretty sure that most of us would try and defend ourselves and our families in this kind of situation.
