Heroes of Might & Magic VI

I'm sure Neil is some sort of internet guru who gets game information streamed directly into his brain. Half the games coming out recently have been posted by him :p

Not hugely interested, have a special place for HOMM in my memories. HOMM 3 in particular was absolutely immense, but to be honest the franchise has been in swift decline ever since imo. Thought both 4 and 5 were extremely average. Think HOMM3 and AoW:Shadowmagic have been 2 of my favourite fantasy TBS ever.

3DO were on the verge of collapse when HOMM4 and M&M 9 were released, it's little wonder they were rush jobs...and it seems Ubisoft decided HOMM5 should be a pseudo-Warcraft game. So far 6 is looking even more dumbed down so I'll be passing on this instalment as well.

I was one of the lucky ones to have an internet chip implant :D

I Thought Kings Bounty 1/2 was HOMM VI with the serial numbers filed off? They didn't just copy the concept but also the style, gameplay and pretty much everything else. That said I found both too easy and lacking the one more turn.

My HOMM Complete box still has pride of place on my shelf. Biggest collection item I have ever bought and I got it for £15 in a clearance at the PC place. Artbook, videos, posters, all 5 games and a T shirt (not opened, natch)...

1C bought the King's Bounty IP, different company entirely. Also, the strategy part was toned down considerably.

 Only £15? Cheapest I ever found it for was £29..

The Ubisoft Forums offer release dates for Might & Magic Heroes VI, the upcoming continuation of the Heroes of Might and Magic series of fantasy-themed strategy games. Ubi's UK Forum Manager confirms the game will be released in the U.S. on June 21st, in Europe on June 23rd, and in the U.K. on June 24th. Steam says the game will unlock on May 24th, but presumably this will be changed in light of this new information

Last year's massive Collectors Box set has pride of place on my shelf. All the games, T shirt, artbooks, soundtracks, maps etc, etc.

Dammit, now it's not complete anymore!!!!

Wait, is the UK not part of Europe these days? Or does shipping copies of the game to countries spanning 2000 miles in each direction suddenly become very complicated when you try to ship it to the UK?

Looks pretty, but that doesn't mean much for HOMM, really, as graphics are hardly crucial to the series.

I put many, many hours into HOMM II. Hotseat with my housemates was endlessly entertaining. Had some super epic battles and some frayed tempers were in the house. Superb fun. Got absolutely stuck on level 8 of the campaign, though. Just could not get more than a few weeks in without being mullered by a huge dragon army.

I missed III, and also put quite a bit of time into IV. I can see why so many people thought IV let the side down as it was a real break from the basics of the franchise. I personally quite enjoyed it because I'm a sucker for pretty much anything with RPG elements. It certainly wasn't true HOMM, though, to see a single hero cutting through stacks of tier 5 creatures.

Just started playing V last week. It's pretty good so far. Nice to be back with more classic-style HOMM, but it's not got the charm of II. Near the end of the second campaign and it's far too easy so far and the scenarios are a bit shallow. Enjoying it overall, mind.

From the screenies VI looks just the same but with tarted-up artwork...

I dont understand what IV gets such a trashing. I got it from a friend as a Christmas present several years ago and I loved it. Played it for ages.

Played V as well and thought that was pretty decent.

I saw this on steam and I want it!

But I wont order it until I've tried a demo first, I'm not getting stung if it isnt as good as HOMM V.

I love HOMM V.

What are you doing here then - go get 3 immediately. Just make sure you have stocked up on food and water as you might not go out for a few weeks. :D

I absolutely adored HoMM 3 , one of my favourite games ever, didnt like HoMM 4 and never quite got to grips with HoMM 5. Wasnt going to buy this as I felt the series had totally lost its way, but that video really does look very promising indeed. I see a lot of HoMM 3 like stuff there. Got to admit, I am tempted to buy it now.
