i just cant fathom how this gash has been getting 5* reviews. how can it possibly be in the same league as the sopranos/the shield/the wire/entourage/24 etc???

it is a show for morons. everything is spelled out for you so that so little intrigue remains. none of the characters are likable and every bit of dialogue tries to inject faux-drama by using ridiculously cliched lines.

im no hater....i honestly want to like this show but i just cant see any redeeming features. even the special effects are budget and out of date. please help me understand why people like this.

i only watch it because it is so rubbish that i find it utterly hilarious.

how is it all spelled out for you? sure its filled with lots of little clues all throughout but its no obvious. we still dont know what save the cheerleader save the world means, why peter blows if he even does, what the company is and its plans are. its much better than 24, i like 24 dont get me wrong but its just one twist after another.(not seen any of the others you mentioned)

the thing that sets out this show from the rest is its pacing, everything is hidden for just long enough before it becomes tedious(im looking at you Lost), new characters are introduced at the right times and often and additional information is added to each character to keep them interesting without bombarding us with nonesense that isnt used later on.

this just isnt the kind of show for you

ive been playing a game with my mate where we try and call things before they happen. for example......i called that that the password to mohinder's dad computer would be his sisters name and was shocked when i was right.......such a cliche.

with shows like this, the writers can take a little artistic liscence but they take obscene libertys with the plot.

(insert a load of tosh here)

Is the Shield the one that was on Channel 5 with the bald man running around a lot and shouting? It looks pants. 24 is simply an extended action movie that got boring halfway through season 2. If there's a TV series for pre-pubescent boys who sex-wee at the sight of a gun -- that's it. From the ads i saw, Entourage looked like a rubbish show that just wanted to pile in as many celebs as possible to get the ratings. Oh my God it's Jessica Alba! Did it work? I've never heard of The Wire, so it must be rubbish. The Sopranos is on the other hand, quite good although i've never watched more than a couple of episodes.

See how we can all make silly judgements? I dont know exactly what reaction you were expecting to get from a post like that in a Heroes thread.

None of the characters are likeable? What about Hiro? Ando? Micah? Claire? Parkman? And what on earth are you talking about with the special effects? They're great!

I dont mind people disagreeing, i can agree to disagree on such things as TV shows, but your reasons for not liking Heroes were just laughable. You'd have done better if you'd have left it at 'it's a show for morons'. Honestly. At the end of the day, it's a show based on comic-book superheroes. What are you expecting?

^YOU, don't diss The Shield, Vic Macky will have your a$$

Seriously, The Shield is one of the most gripping and gritty TV shows I've watched. The last(5th) season was so tense, I was nearly ********* my pants at every scene let alone episode(okay that made me look silly :( )

Sheerly because you are an AD fan ill leave you alone.

well my 2p worth. i love the show, i like the fact it leaves you with a cliff hanger then explains it next week not 3 series later. the characters are made to be like real people thrust into an unusual situation. and it leaves me wanting more!

Also and o0ff topic post from me, but I couldnt agree more. I was never ever a police drama fan, but this is pretty much one of the top TV series of all time. Never have i seen such gritty and briliant story writing, and a complete emotional rollercoaster

Does anyone know if it's possible to buy framed or just the canvas or art like the ones in the show? I think they're fantastic.
No idea.

Anyone missing Heroes? :( :p

I was thinking back the other day to an episode where Micah was playing a video game and it looked pretty good. Any ideas?

Was on the PS3, make your own judgement on that. ;)

Yes I miss it, I've still got Scrubs and Lost though, 2/5. :/

I'd love some of the paintings aswell, they're awesome.

The writers make up 24 as they go along (no joke). a lot of the episodes seem to be sliding downhill these days, mainly as they keep making so many references to current events its just annoying.

Anyway, back to Heroes...

I agree with parts of that. I do think that it is overly simplifed and it plays to the viewers expectations rather than what the writers want to do. Its like a more viewer friendly LOST.

Example: People berate the LOST writers for not providing enough answers to questions, Heroes fans argue that their show gives answers to questions such as "Why does Claires dad wear horn rimmed glasses". I personally, couldnt care as it has very little to do with the story.

As for none of the characters being likable, I think the only character I dont like is Hiro. Hes too stereotypical, very one dimensional. As for good characters, Claire (for obvious reasons ;)) and Sylar, due to the fact darker characters are cool.

Because its an alternative to LOST. Simple as that, for proof just look at the formula of the show.

- Multiple characters whos paths often cross
- Most of them have secrets no one else knows about
- Character centric episodes (not as much as LOST but frequent)
- Multi-Season plotline (theyre planning to run for 3/4 seasons)
- Unique characters, each one good at something in particular

The only real differences are that Heroes are playing to what the general fans want whereas LOST are playing to what the hardcore fans want, hence its popularity. Im sorry if this is turning into a comparison post here but they are similar shows.

Theres my opinion so yeah, anyway...
