Hertz?

How does it all work?
60hertz plays all my videos without lines going through them.
72-75 hertz plays videos with lines going through them (bad)

Is this right? have i got it set up wrong or something? im only using a 32" samsung tv for output

Don't know what you mean by lines. Is this just an effect of interlacing rather than progressive?

I dont know if this is EXACTLY correct, but having a 60hz monitor means you cant see any more than 60fps (in a game). Most video is either 24, 25 or 29.95 fps, and only things I see at a higher framerate is like in Japan where a lot of TV there is turning to 60fps. Videos generally dont have such a high framerate to need that refresh rate.

Screen tearing? well games work fine. just on videos where i have like 3-4 yeh like tears that kind of make it impossible for me to concetrate on movies. Whats it caused by?

You should be using 60hz for a TV.

The reason you see glitches at 75hz is because it's a weird frequency for video playback, most media players don't know how to sync video frames at 75hz.

I always just set my HDMI output to match the video's fps. It's mostly just set to 24hz as I mostly watch movies on the big screen.
