XBLA Wednesdays: Hexic 2 and Ecco the Dolphin

Microsoft announced today that this Xbox LIVE Arcade Wednesday will see the release of Hexic 2 (800 Microsoft Points) and Ecco the Dolphin (400 Microsoft Points).

Building on the success of Hexic HD, Hexic 2 brings all-new pieces to the board and a new multiplayer mode, so you can compete with friends in your living room or over Xbox LIVE®.

The basic gameplay is straightforward, familiar, and addictive—just spin a trio of hexes to create a group of three or more matching colors, or build a formation of hexes to create more advanced pieces. Whether you want a relaxing puzzle break or a frantic race against the clock, Hexic 2 has you covered!

Gamers can also travel through time this Wednesday with “Ecco the Dolphin” (SEGA), a fun, whimsical update of the classic undersea exploration game featuring an online leaderboard that tracks “Best Time,” and includes enhanced graphics and sound.

i thought the trailer for Hexic 2 wasn't very impressive, i'll stick with 1. IM waiting on Speedball 2 and SWOS and that balancing ball game that looked like marble blast, switch something?

I loved Hexic, and i managed to get all the achievements which is no mean feat.

I like hexic but get bored after a while and quit out. I wish I could save those marathon sessions. 2 player interests me.

Ecco used to give me motion sickness on the megadrive

Have to agree with the comment about Hexic 2 looking quite pants, there were a few clips on the E3 previews and it looked if anything to have taken a step backwards. Will probably give the demo a go and see if it plays any better.

I loved Hexic, but maybe because it was free?

I think it's brilliant. The computer battle mode is pretty intense, and nice to see some additional features like bombs etc.

Anyone else got this and enjoying it?

Nah, I didn't like the demo. It's lost all its charm now, I think.

Agreed. For a freebie it was awesome. 800 points is too steep for me though for basically a re-hash.

You can save the sessions - just quit to the menu and then back to desktop. Next time you choose marathon session you can resume...

Very disappointed with Hexic 2

The original was great, but this one... nah... rather nasty on the eyes too compared to the clean look of the first one.
