Hey Guys

Not heard much about it, but based on my own experience with a "C" model (takes DDR2 and DDR3 RAM) I wouldn't take it. My board overvolts my RAM, doesnt like overclocking and doesnt post properly even when at stock. Based on the fact that the non-DDR3 model is solid I would assume that this is a problem. The Abit boards are strongly recommended by most, and to be honest I havent heard much about the Asus ones, but they are usually solid.

Sorry to post again, but i have made a list and was woundering if you guys could cast an eye over it

Does this look alright?

It all works together at least. However points to note are that the motherboard, while SLi capable, will only have the PCI-E slots working at 8x if both are filled for SLi (limitation of the 650i chipset). The CPU is quite expensive for what it is, if you want to save a bit more cash then go with an E2160/2180/2200 as they will almost certainly clock as well but cost about half the price.

Finally depending partly on the OS I'd probably take 4gb over 2gb of better clocking Ram.

What other motherboards could i look at, at the same price range?

Like what is the best motherboard for say, £80,00??

Could you do me a list again when you have time? Sorry, might be cheeky :)

This is relatively unchanged from before but I've dropped to a dual core to save some cash, upgraded the graphics card (only slightly slower than the 8800GTX in most cases), changed the motherboard to a good clocking Abit and also changed the Ram because the OCZ doesn't agree with Abit quite as well since it needs 2.1v to boot and the Abit supplies 1.8v by default.

Pretty much any game you want to play will work nicely on that system, particularly if you overclock the CPU, some like Crysis would probably still struggle at high detail levels with lots of AA/AF but that will be the case for pretty much any PC out there. You may want to consider a bigger hard drive though if you have any spare cash.

go quad

If you are considering the e6550, spend an extra ten on the 6750, or an extra 30 on the Q6600 G0.

For your purposes you really dont need the extra power, but at the same time it will make your upgrade path push a little further down the calendar :)
