All,

As you may have seen from my previous thread, my home hub 5 is rebooting, and googling, it appears to be a familiar story.

What's the best option?

New VDSL router/modem - Asus/Tplink/billion.

Or.

HG612 - from the bay, and normal wifi router?

Need to get this right, so any help appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, I've just been through a similar process because the HH5 doesn't let you change port forward settings once you've set them.

I went down the Asus route with both the N66U and AC68. Both have been returned as I was getting severe stutters in performance (search for my other threads here). I believe it is an issue with the Asus firmware and Asus have passed my issues onto their development team.

In desperation I went for the 'safe' option of a Netgear DC6400. All I can say is that it worked out of the box.

I have no other experience of VDSL modem/routers so can't comment on TPLink or billion.

However from my investigations I do see that BT are tweaking their fibre delivery and some modems may not be fully compatible. I'm sure Asus will resolve their issues in a later release and both units worked but created an annoying stutter.

I would also add the OCUK were brilliant in their support for my problems.

HTH.

Andi.
