Hi,
I play at 1080 X 1200 resolution and have just upgraded to a i5 system.

I have around £300 left for my GPU budget and was wondering if it was worth upgrading to any of the cards in that price range for now?

I have 2 GTX 280's atm and would only want to upgrade if I would get a noticeable difference.

Thanks

Is your motherboard only SLI or can it also support Crossfire?
A 6970 or 480 would be a good choice, alternatively you could get a fairly good GPU and an SSD.

You would notice significant performance increase in DX11 games.

I'd try and hold out until the next generation of cards personally. I bought a 768MB GTX 460 last year when I built my PC as a placeholder card until something better than the 470/480 was released (the heat issues), and it's far too good to be able to justify an upgrade yet. DiRT 2 on full, Battlefield Bad Company 2 on full etc. all at 1920 x 1080, and no slowdown at all :D

I just think SLI'd 280s should be enough. A friend of mine has a GTX 295 and that still copes with everything he throws at it without too many problems so...

should you, yes :D

do you need to, no. At that resolution you won't see a huge increase in performance and will be losing a lot of money since your old cards may not fetch as much as they're worth.

depends how much you value a small performance increase i guess.

sli 280's should keep you going for a good while longer, heck my single 280 was still playing games more or less maxxed out till I upgraded to the 480
