All over the world...
Right just wanted to ask a quick question about hibernation and whether or not it could potentially damage your hds or system.

I have a laptop with a 128gb ssd and a 500gb sata hd, what i normally do now is put it into hibernation mode rather than shut it off completely.

Is this safe to do and would it cause any real damage to my laptop especially the ssd??.

What about putting it to sleep, again any issues with that?? or am i safe to use hibernation/sleep mode??.

TIA

I use sleep (not hibernate). Sleep mode doesn't write to the HD where as hibernate (or hybrid sleep as I think it's called in Win7) write the contents of the RAM to the HD so that it can still be restored if there is a power cut.

Sleep mode just keeps the contents of the RAM alive but if there is a power failure it will be lost.

Why would it cause damage? It'll be fine.

Dont know lol, thats why i asked:confused:.

I heard that rebooting a pc/laptop with a ssd can cause damage to it if you do it quite a lot but wasnt sure if its scaremongering or not.
