what is this? is it like an addon for HL2?

It's probably one of the least known, yet best Mods for HL2.
Get one group of 8 loaded up SWAT style guys VS a bloke with a knife. Yes, it seems bonkers, but the guy with a knife is translucent, a bit like predator. He also has a couple of nades, and can pounce making him jump really high/move with super speed. He's able to hang off any surface, doesn't suffer from fall damage and can also kill you in one hit should you have time to wind up the special move. Oh, and he can also see through walls when stood still, and detect how healthy a foe is.
When played with a good group of people, the Hidden is probably one of the scariest, most adrenaline inducing games I've ever played. When a good Hidden is playing you never know where you're going to get hit from next, and rather than killing you outright in 10 seconds flat he'll taunt you with your teammates dead bodies (hanging them up, or throwing them at you), other random objects flying around or just by standing next to you and whispering 'You're next'....
Amazing stuff, and it's still in beta form. Version b5 will hopefully be released soon.

The main problem is that it doesn't fall into really what Hidden is about. The most fun you get from it is hiding away, taunting the IRIS team into making mistakes.
One of the funniest kills you can get is to force a TK by pouncing into the middle of a group, slash the nearest marine, then pounce vertically and hang off the ceiling upside down. With FF on, the marine you slashed will instinctively turn and fire, usually hitting someone. With the rest of the marines alerted anything moving will be shot at, and if you're lucky someone will get taken out in the resulting mele.
When playing Over-run, it's just a death fest and rapidly becomes boring after a few rounds.
