HiFiMan HE400SE users? What amp?

If that's the case it should be fine wired assuming you don't get issues with noise, you can always return them if you don't get on.

Worth looking at the Philips Fidelio X2HR and Beyerdynamic DT990's too as they're often on sale, I'd rate both to have superior build quality to the 400SE.

DT990's if you like good bass, the X2HR have it but it's less defined, they feel super premium for the price however and have excellent all round sound, some find the DT990's treble a little overpowering by contrast.

Appreciate your thoughts, especially as I'm complete audio noobie.

@Gray2233 your chat led me to look into why my bluetooth never really worked well on my PC. Discovered that the wifi antenna at the rear also double as bluetooth antenna. As I don't use wifi on my main PC, I never have the antenna fitted.

Anyhow, now working fine with my airpod pros and that is more than enough upgrade for me from the bargain bucket tinny in-ear things I was using.

Weird how some things work out, glad you got things sorted.

Onix XL1 at £87, 500mW @ 32ohms, the 400se is 25 ohms, more than enough power to drive them loud enough to deafen at around 65% volume level given they drove my Ananda Nano 14 ohms. But the output goes far beyond just wpc numbers. You likely won't ever need another hp amp ever again, it's also well featured and no need to faff about with anything else.

As good as reviews say?

Especially given the price yes, well worth it.

Obviously I use a desktop HP amp now but if I needed portable solution and not want a desktop amp then it would be this all the time.
