If you don't reboot you get messages in the NCP about using a HB bridge.
The funniest one I got was a link to an NVidia webpage about the proper way to build a 4 way SLI system lol.
I think the way to look at these HB bridges is the same as we look at comparing PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0
The difference between them is less than 1% most of the time but every now and then there is a situation where PCI-E 3.0 does help quite a lot in very demanding situations.
