Hey,

I recently brought a new fan that was reccommended to me from ******. It came and I installed it and just to make sure I installed 'CoreTemp' and temps where in 40's. At the moment their at:

Core 1: 48
Core 2: 48
Core 3: 44
Core 4: 38

I have a Quad-Core Q6600, and just wanted to know if this was high or normal. I'm not doing nothing much just MSN, Few IE tabs, Rapidshare Manager, and other little random applications.

Thanks a lot for any and all help.

Regards,
John Smith

Sorry if I am in the wrong place as I am a knewb when it comes to posting, but I just ordered the coolermaster v8 for my i7 and wondered if anyone on here has the same fan.

I'm not interested in water cooling, mainly because of the horror stories, and as a student, this machine has to work ALWAYS! I was also told the reason the stock intel fans suck so bad is because they don't have a wall around the fan and therefore cannot physically create suction. anyhow, If anyone is going to buy an i7, don't be like me and wait to see how good the stock fan is, trust me for the $300 i paid for the thing I feel like they made the fan for $2. btw, i ordered artic silver 5 paste w/coolermaster.

I know my post just screams knewb.
evga x58 sli mobo
i7 920 @ 3.35ghz on stock air and temps on all cores idle around 60c, and max at upper 70's and lower 80's.
6 gb OCZ platinum 1600mhz ram (of course cant get to 1600mhz... yet)
xfx gtx 285 xxx edition running strong solo style (at stock speeds)
apevia x cruiser case (which i don't care what anyone says i LOVE this case).
500gb western digital green drive (need another to run RAID still, my next upgrade)
Oh and a 600w NXZT sli ready psu (which I was told was not enough power but seems to be doing fine)

don't know how to post screen shot or I would. I'm such a knewb on threads, i mainly just read them and have never once took the time to register and post till today. Please bear with me and any suggestions on how to hook up my post to not be so knewbish will be greatly appreciated as from what I've have read on here this is a really kick azz site.

the temps don't look that high but could be lower, are you sure you've seated it properly though because core 1+3 should be the same within a degree and 2+4 should be the same, the difference between 1+3 & 2+4 can be 1-8 degrees out in some cases.

try get some arctic silver on and reseat the heatsink just to make sure

Hello,

The highest ive seen it go while playing games is 50-51 and sorry I forgot to mention my fan is going really slow I think it's only running at 800RPM and sometimes goes to 1200 but thats rarely mostly in the 800's.
