ps - i don't use the evolution mail system

I was seeing very high CPU usage also on my ubuntu 8.04 laptop today.

I don't think it was evolution, think it was a lot of IOWait's
(So just ordered myself a 7200RPM Notebook sata drive from OcUK :) )

But I will get the lappy out and double check, just incase.

In the meantime, kill the process, see what happens I shouldn't think it's needed IMO

8:10 ?

I've noticed the hard drives thrashing about regularly in 8:04

Also when the screensaver kicks in (Skyrocket) the whole system hard freezes about 5 mins after.

I've set the screensaver to activate much later and it hasn't been a problem....yet.

its very intermittent that this happens - maybe the evolution_data_server_2.22 prog is indexing??

I noticed the same behaviour immediately following my installing kubuntu desktop. Removing kubuntu somehow removed the problem.

If it's only intermittent then I wouldn't worry about it. You could try disabling the evolution alarm notifier in the services section, that might stop it running.
