So - the XBox 360 has HD gaming, when will this happen on the PC? People with shiny 24" Dell monitors must be itching to test out HD gaming on them. Where is the PC gaming world at with HD gaming?

Aren't all games running higher res than consoles...like all my games are run at 1280x1024, surely there is no possible HD variant on games, only on material such as films.

PC gaming is already HD

HD on TV's is just the resolution that its displaying the picture at, 720p (1280x720), 1080p (1920x1080)

And nearly all tft's and newer CRT's can be ran at these resolutions. Which gives you HD gaming

And since recently, 9 games out of 10 support widescreen

LOL, PCs have had "HD" gaming for years - HD is only 1080 lines isn't it? So as long as you've been able to run games in a vertical resolution of >1080 you've been "HD"

PC > Consoles see? :D

Even running games at 1024 x 768 is HD, some people run games at 2560 x 1600.

Aye - those old 15" TFT monitors from days of yore were higher than 720P - makes me smirk that some people console users have suddenly got the edge.

Resolution wise the PC wins hands down but the consoles do have an advantage and that is that LCD TV's are usually very big, my LCD is 40" vs a 17" TFT

So why not just rig your pc up to your 40"????

What did you think HD actually entailed?

You know I played a 360 for the first time on a 32" yesterday, I was surprised to see that 720p looked alright, as I’ve been playing way over that on smaller screens for years.

Good point, if I was single I would have done it already but at the moment I am still discussing with the girlfriend about it :(

She wants the computer to stay in the loft as I have a PS3 downstairs and that is enough and she doesn't want the ugly computer in the living room

I am not really that bothered and eventually I will try the computer downstairs and play games on a 40" Full HD screen which will be excellent.

TVs will probally overtake pc though. I read in a mag that the next step up from 1080p is something like 4070p or something like that which will be huge. But that will probally take about 10 years to reach the uk. Why have pc screen res not increased??
