High-end PC Build 2080ti + i9-9900k, need help with spec please.

I don't want to build a custom loop (the last disaster is why I'm here now) and I like Lian-Li cases

I use PC for Virtual Reality, 3440x1440 gaming, heavy photoshop and Lightroom usage.

I'm looking for a 2080ti but I really don't know which to go for
The memory, nothing's set in stone - so if there's a better suggestion
CPU cooler, will it fit with RAM?

I've got 2 x 1TB SSD from old PC, and I will be selling off the rest of the components (Titan X Pascal, I7 6700K, 32gb ram, Micro ATX mb)

Threadripper actually wasn't recommended in the article and it'd be a lot more expensive than the Ryzen I think. Also mid November is when I'll need a serious PC to start working again.
  1. AMD Threadripper CPUs are not good for Photoshop.
  2. Intel X-series CPUs are OK for Photoshop, but not an ideal choice for heavy Photoshop workflows since you can get more performance for less money with other CPU options.
  3. Intel 9th Gen CPUs are great for Photoshop.
  4. The new Ryzen 3rd generation CPUs are terrific for Photoshop.

Not recommended because it isn't out yet ;)
Threadripper 3000 series would be a fair bit faster than threadripper 2000 that has been benched.
Most notable difference between ryzen and threadripper would be amount of pcie lanes and quad channel memory

Now that I've removed water-cooling and pieced back my old motherboard and titan X pascal - I will just get a case, psu and cpu cooler for now and wait for threadrippers and 3080ti perhaps

waiting for 10th gen Intel X series is the better shout against Ryzen 12 and 16 cores- this is due to having to grab expensive chipset mobo and a lot of ddr 3200/3600 ram (use quad channel !)


noticed @tamzzy has pointed that link out already.

***wait sorry, above is newer version. Logical cores disabled as it hinders performance - but ryzen still on top- though default clock speeds at all cores ! this is slightly important as most likely you'll clock for higher !

but there is a snag with waiting for Intel X 10th gen and its half price cut... it'll take a whole to see 18 cores at 4.9ghz at £1K odd .... not going to happen for a while, unless likes of Gibbo forces intel but they have to buy from a distributor - not direct

16 core ryzen and x570 board with 2080ti and you'd be flying !

board repair sorry- not done in UK etc . all vendors you should go through reseller etc etc, gigabyte you can visit their place in MK and hand it in

unless ocuk have changed their policy like another large reseller has with ASUS and allow a direct swap of parts within a few days, at which they claim back stock . also if reseller refuses rma, you cant take it up with vendor - but might of changed if ASUS uk has direct RMA contact details

there GPUs and laptops are handled within UK though . who knows, brexit might have changed vendors to move repairs for UK products to the UK and not EU . in theory main distribution for asus, msi , gigabyte etc would have to be moved from NL to UK directly if it all does No deal etc
