Hi wonder if some of you fine knowlagable people could help me out with a question/issue i have.

I have recently purchased 2GB PC3200 DDR 400 RAM "High Density" off ebay.

Im having some issues with it i have tried it in two different computers different mobo's one of which i know is compatable the other unsue but i think it should work.

One Mobo is a asus p5p800 this is the one which i think it should work with although seller is telling me that high isnt compatable with this one and require low??

The other im unsure of the actual mobo but it does have a INTEL 915 chipset which is compatable ... the computer it is going in >>

(Unsure if i can post ebay links on here so please mods let me know if you want this removing)

So do i need low density memory or are the chips just faulty like i suspect?

Any help would be appreciated guys as otherwise i need to sort out with a return.

Unfortunately high density memory doesn't work in most motherboards and those that it does work in it doesn't do so very well. It might look like a bargain but really it's rubbish and ebay should ban the sale of it. From what I've read the memory chips on these high density memory dimms should only be used for server based memory and not on desktop memory dimms. Also because the memory chips are sourced from a manufacturer like Samsung or Micron they're said to be Samsung or Micron memory dimms but in actual fact they're made by some noname company who shouldn't be making them especially as they don't follow the JEDEC memory standards which is why most motherboards have trouble with them.

I'd do whatever you can to return it for a refund and look around various etailers for a reputable brand of low density DDR400. Last time I checked you could buy 2 x 1GB Geil Value kits for as little as £60 but the prices do fluctuate depending on sales volumes.
