Hello
For some strange reason my memory is at 35%-50% when idle and I dont know why I dont have any rubbish on my pc, done full virus scan and used malwarebytes to see if there is any malware and its all fine.

I got the low memory errror when I was running battlefield 4, cod ghosts(when it was a free thing on steam :P) and max payne 3, dont know what about other games as Ive just been playing those 3 lately.

Im running windows 8.1,

Could someone help me out

thanks

how much RAM do you have to start with? Also, how big is your page file?
Edit: Just noticed the title says 8GB. Is that 8GB usable or installed?

I have 8GB of RAM (2x4GB corsair vengeance LP 1600mhz) and what my task manager is this when its at 48% idle :
in use - 3.8GB,
available - 4.2GB,
commited - 4.1/9.2GB,
cached 3.6GB,
Paged pool - 307MB,
Non-paged pool - 1.3GB

I dont have many applications opened as well just google chrome, avg antivirus, steam, origin etc. so they shouldnt take a lot of memory

Hmm, doesn't sound terrible - in use is pretty high (I'd expect under 2GB for an idle system but you've still got a bunch of stuff open) but not so much as to necessarily be a problem.

Cached is very high, presumably you're looking at this after having played some games or something, not a clean boot?

You're showing a max of 9.2GB for commited memory, this should be physical memory plus paged pool I thought but that doesn't add up, how is your paged pool set up? Maybe that shows physical plus the max paged pool, while we see the current paged pool. (Is your paged pool set to system managed? If it's set to custom, what sizes have you given it? All on one drive or have you split it?)

Edit: If you don't know the answers to the paged pool questions and no-one else has 'tweaked' or 'optimised' your computer then we'll assume system managed :)

Have you got any dolby sound programmes open? When I was using my Asus sound card with a dolby processing programme that increased my memory usage massively

Do you have a motherboard with Killer Ethernet per chance?

their is an odd conflict with these on win8.1 systems that can cause memory leaks.Took me ages to fix mine

I dont have any dolby sound programes as I dont even have a sound card haha, my motherboard is an asus z87- A so it doesnt have killer ethernet and as for the paged pool memory stuff ive got it set up to "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" I was changing the things around a tiny bit in the virtual memory window but i know nothing about it so it made no difference.

At the bottom of the virtual memory screen where it says " Total paging file size for all drives" my values are :
Minimum allowed: 16 MB
Recommended: 4592 MB
Currently allocated: 1280 MB

PS. I have three partitions, C: which is my ssd (samsung evo 840 250Gb ) and also two other partitions D: and F: which are used by my HDD (WD blue 1TB)
