Hi all

I've finally decided to give up on my Vertex 3 Max IOPS - it's going back. It's dying every other day. I have tried all the different drives and firmwares and it's just not worth the hassle of continuing with it.

So, in that vein, I am interested in what is the highest performance 240 GB SSD that does not exhibit the ridiculous reliability issues of the Vertex 3?

Thanks!

Going to be the first to say it but apparently the M4 is supposed to be the goodun ;) iv got the previous get c300 256gb and that hasn't had a single problem in the last 18 months (other than the very high price I payed last summer which its not even worth half of now :()

I would also recommend the Crucial M4 too as the reliability of the drive is just too great.

You could try the Samsung 830 with slightly better performance than the M4

I think thats the trade off you have to make on this gen, best speeds are sandforce drives but none have the best reliability, going for a slower M4 or an Intel drive (bit slower again) gets you more reliability

You could take a punt on another drive with the same speeds but could end up in the same boat of problems :(

Just get the M4. You probably won't notice the difference between it and the Sandforce drives, it's already crazy fast, and it seems to be the most reliable so far.

I've got a Crucial M4 256GB, make sure you update to latest firmware. I've had no issues at all with mine

Est Lifetime according to SSDLife is 8years 2 months
