A high pitch noise seems to be coming from my HDD. It's no enormously loud, I can ignore it, just wondering what it is?

HDD is old now, got it in 2009, is it dying? Also it's like 30gb's away from capacity, I don't know if that has something to do with it lol. I unplugged the HDD and turned on the comp to make sure it was the drive and sure enough the white noisey sound was gone :/

Just wondering if this is going to keel over soon? I'm know I'm going to end up trading in my selling and all my games soon just to buy a new HDD and SSD -.- Meeeeeeeeh.

Could suggest the drive bearings are on the way out. I would take regular back up's to be on the safe side which you should do anyway :)

Erm, what's a bearing? :)

I was going to reinstall windows next week anyways, need to clear it and not a lot I have on here that I need to keep.

Its nice of your drive to warn you its prolly gonna die soon, i just got windows not booting as my first warning normally :)

Backup gogo

Lol I finally found out what this was. After building my new system and the noise still happening with a new hdd I started to sniff around and it turns out it was coming from my MX518 mouse. Very strange :/

Gives me an excuse to get a new one I suppose lol.
