Hi all,

today I noticed a high pitched noise on my samsung ue55-mu700

it sounds like it is coming from the insides of the tv. Just played around with settings but did not help.

what could be causing this and how can it be resolved?

PWM circuit (if backlight is this type) or bad caps (not coil whine but caps leaking at top where weak spot is, this prevents it exploding and making a right mess.) seem more of a hissing sound.

I've had to change Caps on many Samsung's as they were bad for a good few years (I could say a decade and it was a known issue like the Mobos and PSU's back in early 2000's using cheap crap CAP's) and it seems to happen just out of 1 year warranty.

No it will eventually stop working if too many are split.

If it is the CAP's you can tell as soon as you look at them and its easy to remove and solder on new ones and will not cost more than a few £.

You dont have Good Morning Britain on do you?

I had something like that happen with a sony bravia.. I'd only had it for about 2 weeks. I ended up sending it back and getting my money back.

How fairly new, how long you had it?

less than 2 years.

it has been a decent tv so far.

perhaps I am being overly paranoid, if I put my ear next to the TV I can hear it even when on standby but sitting down in the room I can barely hear the high pitched noise.

I think I need a 2nd opinion on the matter though, as I have suffered from Tinnitus in the past and these power tools I use around the home don't help my hearing.

Samsung .. I have one of the buzzing Samsung TVs.. given all the other design/parts selected issues I avoid all Samsung products now.

I think the buzzing issues I had were todo with bad inductor components (remove AC signal but allow DC). Tempted to change the inductor for a cheap fix, but never got around to it.

Actually the noise is still there

it is actually started the moment the tv is on standby mode. When you turn the tv on it is still making the noise.

i have recently installed a soundbar below the tv a samsung one, and wonder what impact that has had

the noise is very irritating i’m prob going to ring samsung up about this.
