High pitched noise throughout my house?

If it's so high it's on the edge of hearing scale it's probably bellows seizing and wheezing in gas meter. I encountered quite a few UGI Meters emitting this constant static signal on dolphin frequencies while renting around London.

Our gas meter does this, strange as you'd expect it to be coming from something electrical. Fortunately it's in the porch so we rarely hear it.

If you've only heard it since being in that house then I doubt very much that it's tinnitus.....more likely it is the electric meter, gas meter or if you have night storage heaters then it could be the box that controls the off peak electric, some work via radio wave and detect a signal that kicks them into action so when in standby mode it could be making this noise.....was once told signal was sent via Radio 2 but not convinced.

i hear both and no its not tinnitus if your g/f hears it at the same time unless you both have hearing damage and have extreme luck to get it at that same second.

when tinnitus comes on i lose all hearing for a few seconds and hear nothing but this really loud tv beeping style noise.

what you hear i think it simply as someone said an electrical device, i hear my fridge whine, i can hear tv's with mute on whine, i can hear the whine from mu psu, i sent back a ati 4890 cus it whined its something sadly we have to live with but god dammit i hate it :(

lol, i used to think there was the same in my house, turned out it was tinnitus :(:(

i had the same too. Spent ages looking for the noise. Was only after i heard it when i stopped out one evening i realised it was only in the quiet i could hear it which was usually at evening/night at home.

Try cutting your electrical power off completely by your fuse box. That would rule out any dodgy wiring/electrical devices.
