High Spec Gaming Surfaces Mouse Pads - IS IT WORTH THE EXTA ££££

MMM, interesting replies. Some people say yes, some people say no. The steelseries ranges from around £6 - £35. Which one's do you guys use?

SX personally as i got it for £18 off MM

The difference in opinion is because (imo) people who play a lot of games (primarily twitch games) will feel the difference through comfort etc..
People who dont play as much or mainly focus ion strattergies and rpg's won't see as much difference

I used to think a mat didnt matter but the increased responce means less movements with your hand and ultimately more comfort

ok cool. i think i might go for one of the lower end mats and see how that goes. No point in spending +£30 when gaming is not my life.

Well i upgraded my MS intellimouse (400dpi) to MX518 (up to 1600dpi) a while ago and didnt notice much difference other than super sensitivity is possible. I just play on the desk but after not noticing a difference when changing mouse i probably wouldnt go out and buy a mouse mat...

to be quite honest there is no point going to for a cheap mat at all if you only game casually
I am not saying spend £30 but buying a cheap one is just a waste of money

I absolutely adore my Icemat V2. Definitely worth the extra money, I've had mine for about 4 years and it's just like when I first bought it. Pure win.

eXactmat if you play a lot but as some said earlier it wears out very quickly - speed coating on mine has all but gone, once it goes response becomes awful - which reminds me I really need to get a new one...(yes going for an exactmat again!) ;)

Another vote for the IceMat. Strange to use when you get it, but it's consistently smooth and very comfortable to use. Plus because it's glass it feels like a quality product.

I noticed the difference, personally my best experience has been with the steelseries ones, (tried razer exactamat, a couple of qpads), your choice I guess would depend on whether you prefer glide or more control, and also what sensitivity you play with. The 5H has quite a big footprint if your a low sense gamer, personally I prefer glide and the SX is the ultimate for that.

Thanks for the advice. The way i play is by keeping my palm/rist area more or less centred so that i am able to make small by accurate movements. TBH, my hand dosn't move around to much. I always play with very slow sensitivity.

I currently just use the flat desk, but the way i see it, these fancy mouse mats, are actually nice to look at.

On a well layed out desk with speakers, nice keyboard, nice looking monitor etc, it just sets it off nicely. Adds a bit of class.

I think the aesthetics appeal to me more than the features

Lol, deary me, a changing rooms PC gamer hybrid :p

I'd recommend the SX or the slightly cheaper S&S, I have a similar style of small accurate movements, I only use about a quarter of my SX the majority of the time. Make sure you have nice feet on your mouse too, if not get some of that teflon tape/skates as it'll make it glide a lot better.

I'm thinking about getting one of the metal/glass/plastic mats but I'm worried that they will make a lot of noise when moving over them and that they'll wear down the mouse feet. Can anyone comment on this? :)

Been using the same Allsop pad for 7 years now. Does its job and can't complain, although it could do with a wash :)_

i used to use my desk surface, then a friend bought me a razer exactmat for christmas and i hated it, im not a metal mousemat user, i recently bought the razer goliathus and the difference was amazing (although i did also go from a microsoft optical mouse to a razer deathadder 3g infra red :D) the razer goliathus is about 12 quid:
