High Temps for custom water?

lol, so its a complete fail install by me. Haha! :)

I'll have to rotate the block 90 degree's and get the inlet and outlet the correct way around tomorrow, I'll post back with (hopefully) a large temp reduction.

Thank you.

lol, atleast it's something simple and easy to sort. I look forward to hearing your results :)

Pictures really do say a thousand words. I think the main issues have been pointed out, too much paste, the hk inlet is the central hole and the mobo caps may be stopping the block making propper contact. Hopefully a quick 90 degree rotation, swap the inlet outlets and less paste will sort your temps out :)

I hope the suggestions sort out your temp issues. I know the feeling of disappointing temps from watercooling, although I spent far less on mine than I guess you did on yours.

Pretty sure sorting out the mounting and tubing it right will sort your temps out. You just want a small pea sized lump of paste in the middle of your CPU.

I wouldn't be too worried about not having a backplate, it just removes any worries about warping your MB from tightening the mount too much.

back plate is not required.

but putting your outlet as an inlet will have a massive detrimental effect.

if its your first big watercooling build then dont sweat it. mistakes happen.

its when big name 'professional' system builders make the same mistake that you have to question things...

i thinks its going to be the orientation of the block and to much TIM that will make the difference, i have run the Heatkiller with tubing connected incorrectly and there wasn't a noticeable difference.

You would expect your CPU to idle in the high 30s and max out in the 60s depending on ambient with your set up (just noticed the 2 x 570s as i have never run dual cards i dont know what another one would add to temps :))

Yeah its my first big loop, well actually my first loop ever, its just kind of grown over time (and money)...

I'm getting some lighting, cable ties, sleeving and some extra fans today just to complete the build, I could take some photo's, also got some HD6970CF Vs GTX570SLI results if you want to see them.

alright good news guys, temps now at 58C for the hottest core under P95! thats a 31C temp reduction :O
Build now completed, will upload pics tonight,.

Thanks for your help guys.

Hehe, I remember that thread.

"The CPU reached 95°C in our 21°C labs" - safe on watercooling right? Nice £3700 PC there with worse than air cooling. Why is this? Oh, you fitted the waterblock the wrong way round - ok that's an easy enough mistake to make, but how much are you charging? And the hardware can be bought separately for how much? £2700? Oh. Where does the £1000 go? Design and build. Well, given the waterblock, clearly not...
