High temps or faulty sensor?

I swapped my Asus P5KC for a Gigabyte P35-DS3R today and finally have my old overclock speed again.

The only thing is, Core temp is reading 68 degrees C at idle and 83 degrees C under load. The base of the Tuniq Tower feels stone cold to touch. Northbridge heatsink is quite warm but nowhere near as hot as on my old GA-965P-DS3.

Are those temps likely to be genuine or is there a faulty sensor or something?

CPU vcore is set to 1.3375V in BIOS, CPU-Z showing 1.296V, dropping to 1.280V under load.

What temp is displayed in the BIOS?

And are you running the latest version of Core Temp?

BIOS is reading a System temp of 35 and CPU temp of 50. Vcore is showing 1.300V

BIOS version is F7

It is the latest version of Core Temp. It also matches the temps shown in SpeedFan and RivaTuner.

That wasn't the answer I was hoping to hear as it will involve taking the motherboard out yet again :/

I guess I'll have to try that and see how it goes.

Thanks

Turns out the base of the tuniq was resting on a row of capacitors! :/

I had to change the orientation of it so it now blows towards the rear fan as opposed to the top fan.

Temps are now showing 40 degrees C at idle and a very healthy 48 degrees C under load! Time to try a new overclock :)
