volvo high mileage club.... gotta love voleys

top one on there has covered nearly 2.5 million miles. with a few others in the 800,000 region.

100k on a volvo? meh, just run in

to what?

did it not occur to you that a lower mileage car that spends its time driven around town, on the school run will suffer more wear and tear to engine/gearbox/bushes/steering components etc? the engine oil in a car that is used for more stop start journeys actually suffers/degrades quicker

there are actually many reasons why a higher mileage engine/car would actually be in a better condition... but as always, it is subjective and the individual car would have to be looked at closely

Usually a high mileage car has done most of it's miles with a warmed up engine on the motorway, compare that to a car that has done 5k a year but all those miles will have been schoolruns or getting shopping with a cold engine and lots of starts and stops.

My mum's old mkIII Golf wagen had well over 400k on it when it finally got ditched...Not due to economic reasons...More that my dad couldn't be harris'd to replace the bushes again.

i put poly ones on mine at 156k ish.. they ought to last

I read somewhere a while ago about a million mile (or KM ?) BX. I think it was run by an oil company or something.

My car just hit 170K yesterday - yay!

Just polybushed my tie-bars today. The bushes that came out looked ******! Really soft and were cracking. I reckon they might have been the standard items. Not bad at 110k.

My 1995 2.5td disco commercial has 256k miles on it and only now has the transfer box popped (gearbox and engine are fine) she has been used off road loads run on boiler oil

once I stick in the second hand box I have knocking about I am sure she will see 300k easy

I love Landys mechanical everything (fuel injection, pumps etc)
