Let them think they're in control. Hijack premieres June 28 on Apple TV+

Told in real time, Hijack is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, and as authorities on the ground scramble for answers.

Starring and executive produced by SAG Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Idris Elba, Hijack was created by George Kay (“Lupin,” “Criminal”) and Jim Field Smith (“Criminal,” “Truth Seekers”), who also wrote and lead directed the series respectively. The series also stars Emmy Award and NAACP Image Award winner Archie Panjabi (“The Good Wife,” “Snowpiercer,” “Blindspot”).

Just the first episode or the rest of them ;)
Chortle chortle. The second episode!

What does the baggage scanner lady have to do with it all? Red Herring/ Patsy? It is very difficult to smuggle that number of weapons onto an aircraft these days too. And that the kids confided in one of the hijackers after finding the thing in the toilet? Convenient.

Potential but some glaring stupidity.

No way would a reported incident be dealt with like that. It's almost as if everyone is actively trying to ignore a potential issue. The annoying mother took all of 30 secs to be suspicious. And the language some people use to alert danger is ambiguous. Serious incident. Plane hijacked. They have guns. Compromised. That's all it would take.

The way the hijackers let Idris throw around the captain was ridiculous

When you say 'real time' does it mean like 24? I'm surprised other shows haven't copied the format because it was brilliant. Loved when they would say something would happen in X amount of time and you could work out when it was happening

Will finish Silo then start this

It's a 7 hour flight, 7 hour episodes more or less so 'real time' yes.

Enjoyed the 1st 2 episodes a lot. Didn't realise it was. British show, which makes it even better!

It doesn't feel real time, even though I guess it sort of is. I guess the fact the time isn't plastered or mentioned everywhere like in 24 is why.

Just started this, seems ok so far. I think it's the only series/film I've seen where they're actually using a proper plane cabin layout!

a lot of quiet quitters who can't be bothered with the paper work must be working for air traffic control and keystone cops

no one would ever be suspicious of those 2 fit young men doing the cleaning either.

seems pretty intriguing though apart from the writing is basically really flawed

Not something I'm familiar with so may be totally wrong but I'd assume at approx. 28:22 in episode 1 the pilot/captain would immediately squawk 7500 and that isn't something you can just cancel or explain away - regardless of what the pilot or captain might say from that point onwards.

I worry they won't close all the storyline threads in the remaining 4 episodes. Sounded like a cool concept but I almost wonder if 10 epiosdes would have been better.

Apart from that it's OK. Haven't figured out yet who Idris Elba is supposed to be though. A cowering man next door or a genius negotiate/fixer?
